The Concept of GOD

December 4, 2005 by adarshram

The concept of god is now deeply imbibed in most of our hearts . Let us have a little insight on how this concept came about and how weak it really is. Long ago , when humans were not as advanced in science and technology as they are now , were mystified by the wonders of science and named everything that they couldn’t explain as “god”.

This concept kept backing off everytime a new concept came about . For example , People used to beleive earth was flat and sun used to revolve around the earth and that this sun was rotated by god . But , later it was found that it was the gravitational force that did the trick and that the earth was a sphere after all. This, is just an example pertaining to one field . This has been happening in all the fields .

As science is such a vast field with almost no bounds , there are still vast spaces that aren’t exposed by science .These are labelled as the acts of god .Another erroneous assumption that is made by people is to rename coincidence as god . Coincidences are not controllable . So, it is assumed that it can be , by a super power named God
This concept has both advantages and disadvantages .

Advantages : When a child is growing , science is too complicated for the child . So, the concept of god is used to imbibe in the child, good practices and habits . It also helps control people in some situations when they are mentally depressed so they are made to beleive there is an external force that controls everything and that everything that happens , happens for the good.

Provides lucrative job oppurtunities to sanyasi’s and shankarachariya’s.(Advantage of a Disadvantage?)
Disadvantages :This has made the belief in the concept of god so strong that people fight , lose their lives , spend more than what they spend on themselves, get misguided and to top all that waste their time and energy on this belief.
Let us weigh the advantages to the disadvantages . Aren’t the disadvantages just too heavy ? But still everyone prefer to beleive in the concept .Funny isn’t it ?

Chennai’s crude reaction to globalisation

November 30, 2005 by adarshram

Culture, customs these are some of the practises that were devoloped by our forefathers so as to counter the hurdles in life and smoothen it out as much as possible. They have done it in the good interests of the upcoming generations. But, after globalisation things are changing at a rapid pace . No one can predict what is going to happen the next day . Leave alone thinking for next generation .

This rapid change has led to a dilemma for most of the older people here . They have been bought up with practices and values which totally condemned whatever the younger generation are doing in the present times. I remember my mom telling me that she was not exposed to the boys environment till second or third year of college . Is that the order of the day now ? You would be considered socially inept if you kept away from the opposite sex . And, their mingling is being encouraged from a young age .

Considering these changes in the society , following many of the old customs is not going to yield good results. When this trend of globalisation is being used for the best by the present generation it is totally overlooked by the moral police who do their rounds . It is a really cheap outlook , and the politicians use these for their advantage.

Most of the public love it when rules like ” Pubs have to close by 10 ” are out into action or when they read articles like “Westernisation is affecting our culture”. When they support it so blindly they should have a reason or so we think . Most of them on being questioned counter it by saying it is not our culture . Ask them why is it wrong? The answer would be “it’s wrong because it is wrong” and “dont talk against elders”.

The new vice chancellor of Anna University is another one of the sterio typical hitlers under the name of a highly qualified Official .When he comes up with rules like girls should not wear jeans as the students will get distracted it makes me think of the vicious circle . Poor guys in our society are curbed from having sex till their libido reaches it’s peak , all they do at home is to have a simulation of it . And when they actually do have a chance of atleast looking, these modern day hitlers stop them.

His rules we totally of voters interests .All the elders would appreciate these culture protection rules and would be happy with the current government as a result. The problem with the elders is that their views have been stongly rooted in by their parents and forefathers that ,eventhough know that they are irrational , cannot accept that they are wrong.
Our society needs is a complete makeover and elders who are broad minded ,after all evolution is all about adaptation and survival of the fittest .

My theories of life …

November 28, 2005 by adarshram

Is twenty years of living with my parents enough to experience life so as to comment on it and have my own theories about it? I think it is , as long as the parents aren’t pressing on my freedom.

I must say, my parents have been really generous when it comes to money, freedom and having my own thoughts and beliefs. This was one of the contributing reasons , I started thinking on my own about why i do what i do , another being my friend- fuzzy logic , who constantly debates with me about the various aspects of life , our actions ,reactions, it’s pro’s & con’s and their symptoms.

My age , according to Kohelberg is a conventional stage when people start questioning trusted beliefs .So, do i stick to his theory ?I personally don’t know . I beleive the good and bad experience’s in our life , are caused by none other than ourselves .We are the reason why we are , what we are .
Experience :Humans are similar to a super computer. They have a really big hard disk which collect’s all their experiences, there is a major problem with this hard disk , it is really difficult to write on it and once it is written, it is impossible to erase it .Bad experiences are bad sectors we have marked on our mind and we try not to go near them .
Intelligence:Every one , are born with the same level of intelligence , it is similar to the RAM of the computer. Intelligence is determined by how well we are able to apply the knowledge that we already have .This a where a common misconception is encountered , everyone think when a person possesses a lot of knowlege the person is smart . How do we gain the skill of application(intelligence)? How are certain people named dumb ?

I beleive patience and systematism is the key to any person’s success and these are the two most important qualities that are required and has to be cultivated at a really young age . This is the major resposibility of the parents .

It is due to the lack of these 2 qualities that we pay a huge price: not understanding life. Let me give an example as to support my theory . Gymnasiums in most parts of the world earn profit from obese people, claiming they would help them reduce their weight. Why do they gain weight in the first place ? It is due to their own haphazard practices. I think gymnasiums should be classified as rehab centers.

Similarly, when it comes to studies . We find that some people like a certain subject while some people hate it. How is this possible ? We tend to hate a subject because we are not successful in it (i.e) we are not able to understand what it is . The reason for this is that our basics have been weak . We are too lazy to go back all the way to the basics and strengthen it and simply start hating the subject .It is really funny to notice that everyone would accept we cannot build a house on a weak base. But when it comes to their own understanding of things they do the exact same thing !

Humans , i must give it to them , have devoloped really well . A governmental system is a perfect example of a systematic approach to solving the problem of management of people.Similarly the devolopment in other fields or engineering , law, medicine etc.. But this is the work done by 20% of those who have understood what they are trying to do . Imagine if 20% of the human potential could come up with something so spectacular what if 80 % of them did ?(assuming not everyone could be thinking in the same way i have assumed a 20% tolerance limit)
This is what the educational system focusses at ,to give in theory and minimal practise , what our fore fathers have experienced so that we , humans , can use that as a spring board to explore from the exact point where they have left . This is such a beautiful concept. But we have flown far from it . Nowadays education is nothing but blind scoring of ‘A’ grades . Most of them are smug with a A grade even if they do not understand the subject, thus making .

The important culprits are , as far as india goes , The concept of God ,Culture and the misguided society . Which i will write about in the upcoming posts .

Find(Talent>(20/100) in Kollywood)->{Kamal hassan,Manirathnam,AR Rahman,Shankar}

November 27, 2005 by adarshram

Tamil cinema Industry or Kollywood as they call it is one place which doesnt need talent , looks , creativity and need one major element - > Influence . Don’t misnterpret the line above and come to a conclusion the industy doesn’t possess any of the above (talent , looks , creativity ).

One common question that makes all of us wonder about all the heroes in the tamil world “how ” . There is a thin line between .. wait a minute ,Did say thin ? Make it thick , Thicker oh ok ..fine make it Thickest. … how this question (how) is answered and why this question has come into everyone’s minds make up the line that i mentioned above. Note : When i say everyone or public, it comprises of a set of like minded people, who can think and appreciate.
Let me start with the people those who feature as hero’s in the film ,i cannot call them actors. The reason why the public get to the question “how?” is because they ask “How can this guy be called an actor ?”.This set comprises people namely Rajnikanth ,Vijay these people are “super hero’s” and the others in the tamil industry exceot the ones in the title , i cannot forget to mention people like Dhanush and Prabhu Deva .

Dhanush got into movies because of the influence he has , ok fine accepted . But the reason prabhu deva got in is something which i cannot digest even today - “dancing”.I do accept this guy is flexible and all that , but still , doesnt dancing involve some thing called grace and meaning ? This guy just jumps all around the place showing wierd facial expressions which he think’s is funny but not even an ape would laugh for it ..or would it ? One(or the only ?) nice thing that can be done with his “dances” is to put them on mute and see it ,trust me this can be really funny.

Now let us come to our super hero’s .When these guys star in a movie it is a simple combination of the same things .One fight ,5 songs , one love (especially rajnikanth falls in love only with girls who are lesser than half his age) one villian ,one punch dialogue ,some other optional add on’s like a second meaning dialogue which would mean something like “I might enter into politics” and stuff like that . The story line is equally simple . Rajnikanth for eg :He is poor works under some one who respects him like their family member, suddenly something happens ,they kick him out of the house , then they realise he is the a rich man , they understand their folly, he still denies the money and starts living as before. There would always be bits like he does anything his mom says which i think is very detrimental to the public . Dont you think we should have all our actions reasoned out ? And their fans waste from Rs 50 to Rs 500 for looking at the same crap . Most probably if i said all this in a news channel, i would have been killed by now.

Now come the real actors, the stalwarts of the field (ones mentioned in the title) . These guys are really talented . The amount of different movies kamal hassan has done, no other hero has , and his acting can make any person laugh or cry . Dont beleive me ? take some time and look at his movies namely Nayakan: one movie that any person would cry for. out of the world acting and panchatanthiram ,beleive me,even narasimha rao would laugh for it. Mani rathnam is an equivalent of quentin tarantino ?amm… no he is better. The only mistake he has done in his life , he wife, suhasini. A.R Rahman , this guy has inroduced beats, bass ,western music into the tamil music . Fanaa is one of the best examples of his talent cannot be described in words please listen to it if you have not .
The unfortunate state of the industry is that the non- actor’s movies are more appreciated than the movies of the ones who do act so actors arent encouraged only super hero’s are . Is this the cost that actors pay for doing their job in a country like india ? hmm…..

My friends circle….? a tri-star rather

November 26, 2005 by adarshram

In this post i would like to introduce everyone to the different groups of friends I have . I classify them into 3 categories.

2) School friends

3.) College friends

1.)Beeeest friends

Let me start by saying each one of them are really nice in their own way just that they are so different it makes me wonder how i and they get along with everyone around. Let me start with my college mates , Tom my really good friend who i’m doing my final semester project with, is a christian who thinks hedonist pleasure is really wrong and should be strictly a with-the-wife matter and the other values that he follows are also of the same nature(no smoking drinking..)One guy who i really share all my interests with is Beer , now this guy is really smart ,one of those who understand what he does and why he does it . He thinks sex is the only reason, why people are born on earth and how the indian “culture” has spoiled the basic necessity of humans - sex . We(college group) do share some common interest’s though . Tech talk at a very premature level and how to make our stomach full. Other members of our group think touching the book’s is a sin they wouldnt be forgiven for and making all the noises that extinct animals used to make, in class , is their duty . This is as far as my college group goes .

Next come my school friends , one of the smartest ones i have come across . Predominantly these friends are from my 11′th and 12′th grade. They arent as diverse as my college friends are so having a great time with them goes witout saying . One person who is really the opposite of smartness was nish . She always comes up with “how does this work” i’m really happy she didnt come up with the really out of the world question that fuzzy logics sister did ” Who invented science ? I really wanna kill him”. Nish’s boyfriend is a character who’s name cannot be pronounced by himself (it aint difficult  just that his pronunciation is hilarious ) .But she was  really helpful when it came to my apping process  i would have been lost without her .
Now comes the really nice set of friends i have . Lemme start with . Fuzzy logic . HE is the smartest smartness can ever get (yeah… the exact opposite of Golt’s) . He codes all the time and can never get enough of it . I get really depresssed when i’m arould with him .. i go like “dude! have you heard abt this new concept” and he would end up teaching me how simple that concept it and things that even i didnt know abt it . Otherwise .. I dedicate the little amount of understanding that i have in engineering to him and only to hIM. If he wasnt there i would have seriously considered chasing papers !

Next comes the direct opposite of the one above.. Sunshine … when ever i try explaining a concept to her, she would listen to as if she wants to do a Phd on it and in the end i would realise she is looking at the dude behind me who looks”cute” . I wonder how these “cute” guys always manage to stand behind me when i explain something to her .Even though she’s a total party animal and everything , we somehow manage to find topics that interest both of us to talk for hours when we do our rounds of smoking(I dont smoke you know :P) in amy .

My fight cum best buddy would be… Monash… she manages to find some reason or the other to keep fighting with me eventhough she is in oz . she is the reason i have all the girl friends that i do, today.

AND is the next friend who introduced me to monash . He taught me what partying means (eventhough i’m better today :D) . But the sad part is that His name is a constant feature in the deans list that is released in the CMU every semester While mine is in the arrear list of SJCE ( St josephs college of engg).he is one of the very few who follow the “work hard party harder” principle which everyone want to follow.

The CLUB X duo Tin and Push are the best ever to be around with they manage to make every situation however serious it is .. a joke and trust me those jokes are the ones no one can laugh for except themselves i mean it’s really stupid but still i end up laughing too .

In the end comes my girl friend . Now , she is a really really interesting person i mean really nice.. ok fine i will stop buttering . But she is a person who wouldnt talk for any reason ,unless she knows you . I used to think this chick was really weird and i was wondering how any guy would or could go out with her.But hey . i’m just not any guy you know , i’m ME (with all thunderstorm effects in the background) . So i got to know her and i realised that she knows more languages than i can count and she has read a million books . I think this post is exceedingly big and that people who dont know me would really get bored with this . So i’m stopping my post here :-)

The D Day for indian cricket:Dada returns !

November 25, 2005 by adarshram

I really hate myself for starting my first post as a hate post . But circumstances have forced me to do so .I ‘m not a great fan of cricket , but you don’t need to be one to know abt the great DADA and chappel issue.

My instinct to probe the inefficiency of indians in general has led me to follow this issue as well .This is what I asume must have happened . Chappel, as he isn’t from india, is not used to the concept of influence and political interference , so he was just doing his job : got the statistics and analyzed the skill’s of the players and trained them .He realised that that DADA didnt posess any, so he wanted him to leave the team . Had it been an ethical player he would have quit the team for a while and worked on his skills and tried getting back again . But as far as india goes , people in the top are never told what to do and they dont do anything by themselves too . Thus DADA ji got angry .

He called up dalmia and told him “Dude all your black money’s with me and so is kolkata ,you do something about chappel or else …. ” . So wat our smart dalmia ji did was he clicked on forward and sent chappel’s confidential message to the press .Unfortunately both dalmia and ganguly got the equation wrong . The releasing of the email further strengthened the anti ganguly sentiments .Now ganguly wanted to attack at a different level . He payed money to the dulip trophy players and makes a century and then pays money to the media to cover it !Even then only bengal seems to budge . Begal has this herd mentality very similar to that of mallu’s , atleast the most of them, so they blindly start doing what their group does. And as he thought he will regained support he stopped paying money to the dulip trophy players and ended up with 2 ducks. And even after that he has the guts to say . “i’m in good nick !” .

The best part abt choosing him into the test team is that , he is claimed to be an all rounder ! rather a all ROUND er as his statistics suggests . I wonder what happened to kiran more (selector of the test team) . 2 days back, he was in his senses and uttered the statement “I’m not happy with Ganguly’s performance in the recent matches.I’m not sure if he’ll b able to make it into the team….” and now after 2 days he says “Ganguly has proved his metal.Hez been selected into the team coz of his all round performance in the recent series” and DADA has not played any matches inbetween , i wonder where and when he proved it to More .

What has happened with kiran more and DADA is still a mystery i’m probing into . Will be continued …..

My inspiration

November 24, 2005 by adarshram

As far as my writing skill’s go , I guess my AWA score says it all ,a pathetic 3.5 on a scale of 6 . I was devastated by the figure when i saw that only 16 ppl out of 100 were behind me . I realised the amount of catching up i have to do with  English. Well this spawned in me, the idea of starting a blog . As i do have a lot to write about  and i haven’t been used to writing I do hope I can space it well so that my english improves  in the process . I have always felt that speaking and writing good english is a invaluble skill . I would personally like to thank Vishnu and my girl friend for the encouragement they have given me to start off the writing practise . I do hope all you writers have some comments and it would be invaluble for me . Please do feel free to post it . tkx :)
